FAQs
Practical information about visiting our parish: dress code, who is welcome, and what to expect.
What is the dress code for Mass?
We ask that all who join us for Mass dress modestly and respectfully (wear clothing that is presentable and appropriate for a sacred space) as a sign of reverence for God. If you are visiting for the first time, please do not worry - you are always welcome just as you are.
Who is welcome at Good Shepherd Catholic Church?
No matter who you are or where you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here. Whether you are a long-time parishioner, a first-time visitor, a family with young children, or someone simply curious about the Catholic faith, our doors are open and our community is glad to have you.
What should I expect on my first visit?
You can expect a welcoming community and a meaningful experience of Catholic worship. Mass includes readings from Scripture, a homily, communal prayers, and the Holy Eucharist. If you are not Catholic, you are still very much a part of our worship. Feel free to remain seated during Communion or to come forward with your arms crossed for a blessing. Come and experience the love of the Good Shepherd.
How can I get to the church using public transportation?
You can take Bus Route 1B, which services the Babonneau area and will bring you close to the church. You can mention the church along with any of the nearby landmarks, especially Babonneau Police Station or the Babonneau Primary School.
How long is a Sunday Mass?
A typical Sunday Mass lasts approximately one and a half to two hours. The length may vary slightly depending on the liturgical season, special celebrations, or parish announcements. We invite you to come with an unhurried heart, prepared for worship and ready to encounter God in Word and Sacrament.
When are Masses held at the church?
We offer several opportunities throughout the week for you to join us in worship: Sunday Mass: 8:00 a.m., Saturday Vigil Mass: 6:00 p.m., Daily Weekday Mass: 5:30 a.m.
How do I arrange a Funeral Mass or Service?
In times of loss, our parish community is here to support you. Please contact the parish office to arrange an appointment with the Parish Priest, who will guide you through the process and assist you in finalising a date and all relevant arrangements. You are not alone - we are here for you.
How do I arrange for receiving the sacraments?
For any sacrament required be it Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, or Marriage, please contact the parish office for more information at goodshepherd758@gmail.com or 450-5496 (office); 460-5496 (mobile)
How is my donation used?
Your generosity sustains the mission and ministry of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Every donation helps us care for our sacred space, support our community, and serve those in need.
Is Mass celebrated in any other language?
While Mass is primarily celebrated in English, you may occasionally hear Kweylol - the native dialect of Saint Lucia - woven into certain parts of the Mass, such as the Readings and Homily. It is a beautiful expression of our local identity and cultural heritage.
Is the church accessible for persons with disabilities?
Yes, our church is wheelchair accessible. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can participate fully in our worship and community life. If you have any specific accessibility needs, please do not hesitate to contact the parish office, and we will do our best to assist and accommodate you.
